When we spied Ashley Greene in Gucci’s front row yesterday, we figured she was an actress, but we had no idea who she was.
Sorry, Twilight fans.
But we digress: Ashley looked great in her Gucci resort dress while toting a fabulous bamboo handle bag, also made by the company.
There were plenty of cute pieces in Frida Giannini’s Fall 2010 collection that the starlet could wear to red carpet events–especially this short burgundy number–but what honestly interested us more than the clothes was the fact that Greene was the first and only actress we’d seen all week.
Sure, there was certainly a decrease in celebrity traffic at New York Fashion Week, but in London it was back to star-studded front rows.
What gives? In Milan, it seems that the focus is really on selling clothes, not scoring publicity. Nearly every big fashion house does a separate show for buyers and press, that way they can get as many people to view the collections as possible. Celebrity endorsements may be good for branding, but it’s difficult to prove whether or not having them in your front row actually sells clothes.
