LONGER SKIRT FOR FALL AND WINTER

The latest catwalks in Milan were presenting “New” hemline for next season FW2011/12. That skirt length is an economic indicator: the better the economy the shorter skirts, appear to be connected. Or maybe designers decided they had had enough of micro mini styles, and they could do with a bit of glamour in fashion again. Suddenly we see pictures of models in clothes that might have come from 1950: second-skin jackets, high heels, corseted waists, and very tight skirts.

I am looking forward see some of these styles in real life; unfortunately until they reach the mainstream they go out of fashion, and the last we get a few impressions. But as the latest pictures show, fashion trends comes back round to the kind of thing we like sooner or later. So be patient and keep your short skirt for another season.
The new skirt length has dominant the Milan Fashion Week such as Max Mara (or previously Marc Jacobs in New York) who’s keeping their skirts and dresses at ankle- and knee-length. The Prada collection was not only unusual because of its ‘sexy secretary’ feel but also because of its use of relatively curvy models including Victoria’s Secret models Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio.
This new hem length is a welcome option to the economy’s high miniskirts of the past seasons — not only do they cover excessive curves they also simply look very elegant.
